Fur Card Shader

A feature rich fur card shader created in Unity

  • Procedurally generates fur cards on the GPU with an even distribution across the base mesh

  • Card size, direction, and density can all be painted directly on the model with a custom in-engine grooming tool, complete with an assortment of brush options and undo/redo

  • Supports both a physically based hair shading model and NPR shading options, with a custom self-shadowing approximation

  • Automated distance based LOD for card count, as well as frustum culling to avoid generating off-screen cards
